Gemini to compete with Eurostar and stop in Kent

Published: 31 March, 2025

A new competitor to Eurostar has been announced: Gemini Trains. Despite its airline looks, Gemini’s website is promising to “Change the face of European travel” by offering an alternative rail service between the UK and Belgium and France, with additional stops at Kent station Ebbsfleet International.

The website is coy about the details but other news outlets suggest a start in 2029, indicating that the initiative is spearheaded by former Eurotunnel executive and Labour peer Lord Berkeley. Kent Online were told that Ashford International will not be part of Gemini’s initial offering but that it is very much “on the radar” for the future. Ebbsfleet, on the other hand, is planned to be part of the launch.

The announcement, according to The Daily Mail, is the fruit of two years of discussions and negotiations and promises competitive business and economy prices.
