Virgin gets green light to use Temple Mills depot
The Office of Rail and Road (ORR)’s report into the Temple Mills maintenance depot, currently used only by Eurostar, has concluded that there is enough space for other operators to use it as well.
The ruling is a victory for Virgin Trains and Evolyn who have argued that Eurostar was blocking their access to the depot and thereby jeopardising their plans to provide a rival service through the Channel Tunnel. Virgin now say there are “no obstacles” to their bid.
Eurostar still claim that the depot is “nearly full” and requires further investment.
