HS1 changes its name to London St Pancras Highspeed

HS1 has changed name, and is now known as London St Pancras Highspeed. They say it’s not just a rebranding exercise but a reflection of their intention to ‘play a more active, consumer-facing role in helping to drive the growth of sustainable travel by high-speed rail’ (see https://www.railtechnologymagazine.com/articles/hs1-ltd-now-london-st-pancras-highspeed). Whatever that means.

London St Pancras Highspeed talk of having a great oppportunity to foster international rail, which is indeed true. But BBET calls on the Govenment to make our only international route a priority in its long-term UK rail planning. The high-speed service could be extended north from Stratford International to encompass the Midlands and further. We also hope to see competitors to Eurostar sharing the line before too long.

Perhaps London St Pancras International wanted to dissociate its brand from its embattled former namesake, HS2.
