Eurostar will not stop in Kent before 2026

Eurostar has ruled out stopping in Kent before 2026. This brings a sense of déjà vu as Eurostar have always ruled out deciding on Kent stations until 2025. According to a BBC article, they added, “There is no short-term prospect of re-opening”.

BBET wonders if this is linked to the uncertainty over the new entry system imposed by the Shengen Zone. The EES would see biometric data being collected for every person entering the zone, leading to fears of long delays at ports and airports.

EES has been delayed several times and even its latest dates, November 10th 2024, is currently in doubt.

BBET calls on Eurostar to keep open the dialogue with all stakeholders in Kent. We need to look forward to a reopening date for the stations of Ashford and Ebbsfleet.
