Big delays feared with introduction of EES
KCC councillors are warning that the introduction the the Schengen zone’s new biometric border checks, Entry-Exit System (EES), could cause major and long-lasting delays when they comes into force this October. The worry for Kent is that delays at the Channel ports (Dover) and Eurotunnel terminal (Folkestone) will result in lorries being made to park on the M20, in a managed system called Operation Brock. Councillors are also predicting serious delays at the Eurostar terminal at London St Pancras.
Operation Brock poses major transport headaches for the residents of Kent and councillors are clearly worried about getting the blame for the chaos. So they are getting their warnings in early. Read Simon Finlay’s article in Kent Online.
