Adieu Mickey Mouse
An account of the past history of Eurostar, as well as an overview of the financial decisions made and in prospect, this article is a lament for the lost Disneyland Paris route and the delays in Amsterdam.
The article has a good map of the places Eurostar used to visit before the pandemic, showing how much it has shrunk. The Disneyland train, the ski train to Bourg St Maurice, the Provençal route to Avignon and Lyon, dreams of future sleeper services, all now gone. The writer, Gwyn Topham, blames a combination of Covid, the extra bureaucracy of Brexit, and poor financial decision-making on the part of the UK Government.
