Gemini, one of the companies hoping to provide a rival service to Eurostar through the Channel Tunnel, has said that it is ready to order a new fleet of trains.

This announcement comes as the ORR prepares to announce which of the four competitors will be allocated space in the Temple Mills maintenance depot. The ORR’s decision will determine which of four hopefuls will be the first to offer a competitor service to Eurostar.

Gemini company is led by Lord Berkeley, a former railway engineer and Labour minister. Its CEO, Adrian Quine, has stated Gemini’s intention to use Stratford and Ebbsfleet from the off, and possibly Ashford as part of a second phase.

Gemini are waiting for the ORR decision to place their order of 10 new trains from Siemens, each 200m in length.
